Administrative Issues for Participants

Hi everyone,

I have received the deposits from the participants, and I thank everyone for being on time regarding this issue. Here are some of the outstanding forms that you need to ensure that you have picked up, filled up, signed and submitted:
  1. Consent Form
  2. Student Record Form
  3. Edusave Withdrawal Form
Other forms and information are on a case-by-case basis and feel free to contact either of the teachers to find out more/verify. I have also updated the participants list accessible via the link at the top of the page.

Latest Updates on Trip & Signing Up

Hi everyone,

A few of the key latest updates on the trip are as follows:
- Deposit amount has been changed to $300.00. Students are to place a $300.00 deposit in cheque instead of the original stipulated $500.00.

- Deadline for submission of cheque is extended to Monday 18 Oct 2010. Considering that year 5s do not have lessons after friday, they may choose to submit on Friday 15 Oct instead.

- Re-test for Yr5s: it is stressed again that re-test takes priority over the educational trip as your foundation for the A-levels is still more important. If you are able to reschedule your re-test appropriately, you can continue to come for the trip. For those with more than 2 re-tests, we would strongly discourage you from signing up for the trip.

- Subsidy: Students seeking to apply for subsidy for the trip should pick up a copy of the subsidy application form and furnish the appropriate documents. (Keep a look out for when this should be done)

- Particulars and Signing up
Students who have not fully furnished the required information should download the two excel files, fill up the relevant information, and email them to Mr Xu (email address in the slides).

Students who have not attended any briefing but wish to sign up should do the following:
1. Download the look through the two sets of briefing slides. (Briefing 1) (Briefing 2)
2. Download the two excel files, fill up all information and email information to Mr Xu or Mrs Lee-Teo (Particulars) (Contact info)
3. Prepare a deposit of $300 to be paid in cheque by Monday 18 Oct.

Financial Issues (CORRECTION)

Hi everyone, there has been a correction to the previous version of the FAQ. Please read again for more accurate answers.

Have been asked by quite a few regarding finances and here are some of the questions and answers:

Can Edusave funds be used?
Yes, but up to a certain limit, and it works on a case by case basis as everyone would have used up their Edusave to different amounts. The admin office is able to check upon confirmation of your interest.

Can the Post Secondary Education Account (PSEA) funds be used?
No. This information can be obtained from the MOE Edusave website: http://www.moe.gov.sg/initiatives/post-secondary-education-account/eligibility-and-usage/ . Read under the heading titled "What can the PSEA funds be used for?". It is specifically mentioned earlier as well that the PSEA account is only usable for the mentioned list of institutes. Looking further into the FAQs:
Why can’t my child make use of the PSEA for his educational expenses at primary, secondary and junior college levels?
PSEA is to be used for higher education which is more expensive. Education at primary, secondary and junior college level is heavily subsidised by the Government. There are financial assistance schemes, scholarships and bursaries in place to help parents with the expenses.

Are there subsidies available?
The school has set aside a fund to subsidise students with financial difficulties, but this is again available on a case by case basis, based on family income and other factors. That is to say, you may or may not receive this subsidy and would need to put up a good case to secure the subsidy. This shouldn't deter anyone nonetheless as ultimately it is part of our principles to try to not deprive students of opportunities just because of financial issues.

Disclaimer though, that usage of Edusave and available subsidies are only applicable to Singapore citizens. PRs and non-citizens will unfortunately not be entitled to these funds.

Hope this helps!
